Which pots to choose?

Pots are an integral part of any kitchen equipment. But how to choose them to be sure that they fulfill all their tasks? We suggest what to look for when buying pots.

Material of construction

Let’s start with what materials pots can be made of. The most popular are certainly those made of stainless steel. This is not without reason, because stainless steel, due to its high chromium content, is resistant to high temperatures and conducts heat well. These pots are therefore durable and resistant to all kinds of damage and corrosion. They also have the advantage of being easy to keep clean

Another popular material for cooking pots is aluminum. They are very lightweight and heat up much faster than those made of stainless steel. Moreover, they are quite inexpensive. It is worth remembering, however, that aluminium can be harmful to health, so it is safer to use anodised or oxidised aluminium pots.

A very good solution and the healthiest of all options are ceramic pots. Thanks to their extremely smooth surface you can cook food in them with little fat and they are also great for allergy sufferers. Ceramic pots hold heat for a long time, but they are not resistant to very high temperatures, so it is recommended to use them on low heat

An excellent, but extremely expensive option is also copper pots. Not only do they look impressive and impressive, but they also conduct heat very well and evenly, allow you to control the temperature while cooking and are resistant to scratches and mechanical damage.

Coating of the pots

Just as important as the material is the coating of the cookware. By far the most popular coating is Teflon. It is non-stick and therefore allows cooking and frying with little or no fat. Moreover, Teflon-coated pots are easy to clean and do not absorb grease, dyes or odours. However, it is worth remembering that the Teflon coating is quite susceptible to damage, so you should use wooden or silicone spatulas for stirring.

Another quite popular coating is the titanium one. Using such pots, food does not stick to the walls, so there is no need to use fat. In addition, titanium does not emit harmful substances and does not react with food. This makes it an extremely healthy option, but titanium-coated pots are quite expensive.

A good alternative to Teflon-coated pots are marble-coated pots. Marble does not react with food and does not alter its natural taste or smell in any way. In addition, these cookware are characterized by a high level of non-stick, so you can prepare meals without fat. However, marble is not as scratch-resistant as, for example, pots with a titanium coating.

What else is worth considering?

Apart from the material and coating of the pots, there are other aspects you should pay attention to that will determine whether the pots are good or not. First of all, check if the model is suitable for your stove. Some pots will only be suitable if you have an induction stove. Also pay attention to the thickness of the base, the markings and approvals they have, as well as the lids and handles.
