In order to have a nice time at the beach, it is a good idea to have the most necessary things with you. What to pack besides a bathing suit and a towel? Use our handy list.
When going to the beach, it’s a good idea to bring along a beach mat, which we can spread out on the ground and keep our things on it (this way we’ll bring home less sand). A beach mat also greatly increases the comfort of sitting or lying on the beach.
If you don’t have a beach mat at home and don’t want to buy one, because you frequent the beach relatively rarely, you can use a sleeping bag instead. This is a much better idea than taking a traditional blanket to the beach, whose fibers are very easily penetrated by sand. A sleeping bag is usually made of smooth material, so after beachcombing you only need to shake it out decently to get rid of most of the sand. You will remove the remaining sand easily when you wash it.
Many people take a screen with them to the beach to shield themselves from the wind. This is a functional solution on windy days, but when setting up the screen, remember not to clutter the passageways with it and not to place it right at the sea line.
When planning a day trip to the beach, it is a good idea to take some food with you. Although there are food trucks set up on many beaches, it is a good idea to have at least a small supply with you. Dry provisions (rice wafers, breadsticks, crackers), fruits (such as apples or peaches) and vegetables (such as diced cucumbers or peppers) will be perfect.
We strongly discourage you from taking sandwiches with you, which can spoil quickly in high temperatures. Also, be sure to take plenty of water with you. On sunny days at the beach it is very easy to get dehydrated, so it is a good idea to take a pre-cooled drink in a thermal bag.
Don’t forget to bring a lotion with UV sunscreen. Opt for high protection and get an SPF 50 lotion. Sunbathing adversely affects skin health and accelerates skin aging. In addition, it’s easy to get burned at the beach – the cool sea breeze makes you not feel the tan, so you can easily miss the critical moment.
Also, remember to pack a panthenol product for the beach – you’ll have something on hand to give relief to burned skin.
What else to take to the beach? Sanitary wipes, moistened tissues, lipstick (preferably with UV protection), and medications that you use on a daily basis. It’s also a good idea to pack something for pain relief.
Staying at the beach is not just about sunbathing and taking sunbaths. It’s a good idea to organize your time and take things that will make your stay at the beach more enjoyable. Take along an interesting book or newspaper, your phone and headphones (if you intend to listen to music or watch a movie or TV series).
If you’re going to the beach with a larger group, it’s also a good idea to take along playing cards or your favorite board game, preferably a travel version. If you’re going to a less crowded beach, it’s also a great idea to take along a ball, ringo, frisbee or, if it’s not blowing too hard, a badminton set.
