Retro style in interiors has been in fashion for a long time. If you do not want to furnish your entire apartment in this style, you can add a few retro accessories. The interesting effect is sure!

Interior design in the style of the 50s and 60s

It is said that good design does not go out of fashion, but it does not always happen that way. Accessories from the 1950s and 1960s had to wait a bit to return to salons in Polish homes. Currently, however, they are celebrating triumphs again and are eagerly chosen, for example, as retro accessories for the bedroom or living room. What elements of the 50’s and 60’s style are worth paying attention to? What can we be inspired by and use in vintage arrangements? We advise!

Furniture from the 1950s and 1960s

The 1950s and 1960s saw the reign of furniture on thin legs, tapering downwards. Perhaps you know such furniture from your grandma’s or aunt’s house. Often these were upholstered armchairs, tables and cabinets. Many people who renovate old furniture successfully restore items from those years. Really interesting specimens are created. Cabinets with colorful doors and original handles or armchairs upholstered in original patterns. Furniture from the 1950s and 1960s, renovated in accordance with their original appearance, is also very popular. No matter which option you choose, each of these pieces of furniture will be an interesting retro addition to your living room or bedroom.

Porcelain from the old days

If you dream about small accessories from the 1950s and 1960s, it is worth looking for ceramics from those years. Beautiful vases, cups and plates will be a great decoration of the dining room or kitchen. A lot of pottery from those years is buried in attics or in the basements of our grandmothers and grandparents. When asked about pottery from the 1950s and 1960s, a grandmother may feel very nice and look for it with you in her home nooks and crannies.

However, if you do not want to look for ceramics in this way, you will find many offers on the Internet for items from those years. You can also go to the flea market or the thrift store – there you can discover real gems. Interestingly, porcelain factories with many years of experience (such as Ćmielów or Bolesławiec) are resuming the production of old ceramics collections. If you want to buy new mugs or plates stylized for the 1950s and 1960s, this is the perfect solution.

Colorful accessories in the style of the 50s and 60s

Due to the small size, the interior design in the 1950s and 1960s was simple and very functional. Nevertheless, efforts were made to introduce a bit of avant-garde and color into the interior. Therefore, when arranging an interior in the style of the 1950s and 1960s, it is worth hanging colorful posters and graphics on the walls. You can lay a patterned carpet on the floor, preferably in an intense color. Don’t forget about the pillows – opt for a colorful version or one with geometric patterns. The whole arrangement will be complemented by a turntable placed on a retro table with thin legs, tapering downwards, and a stack of vinyl records.
